We hope you'll come out and have a real Wyoming experience with us, as we move the Ranch Horse Sale from its original location (Casper fairgrounds) to its new venue for 2010 - the Powderhorn Ranch arena. We're quite excited to welcome you to our brand new riding arena at the headquarters of the ranch on LaPrele Creek. May and June are usually the prettiest times of the year in our country so consider setting aside a few days and coming to Central Wyoming! For a quick summary of last year's sale, click the button "2009 Sale Results." To make your trip (and buying a horse) easier, please review the important information below. Date and Schedule of Events This year's Sale will be held on Saturday June 5th, 2010. Public activities begin the day before, Friday June 4th, when the "gates" open at the Powderhorn arena at 3:00 pm. Come and browse the horse pens to see the horses we've got ready for the big event. Diamond-McNabb and consigment riders will be on hand to answer your questions about individual horses. |

At 5:00 pm we'll serve a complimentary western barbecue dinner (while supplies last) by local favorite Bullwhip Catering. By 6:00 pm, Ken will explain how to get a young horse started with groundwork and confidence in a colt starting demonstration at the arena. By 7:30 or 8:00, Pinedale radio personality Andy Nelson of the Clear Out West radio show will offer his highly regarded blend of cowboy humor, poetry, tall tales and traditional cowboy song. If you aren't familiar with the Nelson brothers from Western Wyoming, check out their weekly radio show on KTWO radio, 1030 AM, Saturday mornings at 8, or visit them at ClearOutWest.com. Saturday morning, the gates will open about 8 o'clock, and from 9 until 12:00 we will preview as many horses as time allows so that you can see them in motion. Riders will take the sale horses through an obstacle course of sorts, with some simple maneuvers or ranch chores to observe. Lunch will be available from two concessionaires beginning about 11:30. At 1:00 on Saturday, the first horse of the afternoon will be brought in the ring, and the game is on! We expect to proceed directly through to the final horse without interruption. Throughout the public hours of the event, the Ken McNabb Horsemanship storefront in the arena facility will be open to offer you instructional materials, hand-chosen tack items and a selection of horse-lover apparel. Sunday morning, feel free to join us at the arena at 9:30 for a Cowboy Church service and conversation with riders and guests as our annual event winds down. We look forward to seeing you! Auctioneer and Bidding Methods Once again, Ty Thompson of Billings, MT will call the sale. Ty is well experienced and reputable, and since the time he last joined us to call our sale, Ty won the Livestock Marketing Association's World Livestock Auctioneer Championship. Always a contender and frequent finalist in recent years, Ty was named World Champion of his trade in 2009. Internet bidding will be available courtesy of DVAuction. To register to watch the sale online, and/or register to bid online, please visit the DVAuction.com web site at least a week in advance of the sale. Last year we had some difficulties with the audio feed from the sale, despite successful test runs prior to sale day. This year we are making extra effort to have bandwidth and equipment in abundance, but please understand that Internet bidding is not guaranteed to be available or flawless. Best to come to the sale in person if you can! Telephone bidding will also be available. In order to bid on one or more horses over the telephone, it's very important that you understand the process and arrange for the call in advance. In order to bid on the phone you must pre-register with us to obtain a bidder number several days before the sale. To pre-register and receive complete (simple) instructions, please call Jennifer at Diamond-McNabb, 307/233-3905, or e-mail her at JenniferG@WyoDiamond.com. All Diamond-McNabb horses will sell. Consignors will have the right to 'no sale' or 'pass out' their horses if they do so after the fall of the gavel but before the horse is out of the sale ring. Also, please be sure to read the Terms of the sale, as well as details of our Good Fit Guarantee, posted below. These terms apply to all bidders, even if you don't read them (so read them). limited quantities at the door). A digital catalog is posted online, and you may enter a request to have a catalog mailed to you. Catalogs were printed in early May. Parking Vehicle and trailer parking will be available at the ranch. Please follow the signs and use the designated spaces, as we are limited on space at the arena and will need to create parking lots in multiple locations to accomodate the number of guests we are expecting. There are RV lots in and around Douglas, but we do not have RV hookups at the ranch. Accommodations A block of rooms is available at the Best Western Douglas Inn & Conference Center in Douglas, WY. The room block is held for the nights of June 4th, 5th and 6th. Please call the Best Western at (307) 358-9790 for more information or to reserve a room. The hotel is also online: Best Western Douglas Inn. Several other hotels are located in Douglas, Glenrock and Casper. Online travel sites or the local visitor centers should help you identify them: Casper Area Visitors Bureau or Douglas Area Visitor Information.
